• Ukraine has demanded a cease-fire, armistice, and a humanitarian corridor
• Thousands are believed to be dead since Russia attacked the country
Russia and Ukraine on Thursday agreed for humanitarian corridors for civilians to help them escape Russia’s invasion.
The progress comes after the countries could not come up with any results earlier this week.
Thousands are believed to be dead since Russia attacked the European country, which is the biggest attack in Europe since World War II. Around 1 million refugees have been created.
Russia said, “substantial progress” had been made. Ukraine reported that only one of the three demands got agreed upon. Ukraine has demanded cease-fire, armistice, and a humanitarian corridor.
Reuters reported that Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said a temporary halt to fighting in select locations was also possible.
"That is, not everywhere, but only in those places where the humanitarian corridors themselves will be located, it will be possible to cease fire for the duration of the evacuation," he said.
Russia has been attacking many Ukrainian cities from where it is getting difficult for the Ukrainian army to evacuate the wounded.
The West has imposed many sanctions on Russia since the beginning of attack on Ukraine. The Russia economy has been compromised due to these sanctions. There has been a plunge in the value of Russia's currency, the rouble.
