• The US and its European allies are considering banning Russian oil imports
• Ukraine's president also asked for a no-fly zone to be implemented in Ukraine
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has once again urged the international community for fresh sanctions against Moscow, including a boycott of Russian oil and other commodities.
"If the invasion continues [and] Russia does not back off on its plans in Ukraine, we will need new sanctions, new steps against this war, for peace," Zelenskyy said in a video address, according to an NBC News translation.
"Boycott oil products from Russia," he continued. "You can call it an embargo, or you can call it a moral obligation when you refuse to finance the terrorist."
Notably, Russia has previously been subjected to severe sanctions imposed by Western nations as a warning to President Vladimir Putin to stop the invasion of Ukraine.
He went on to say that the outcome of the Ukrainian conflict will determine the destiny of Europe.
"It is decided on our land whether any other European nation will become the next victim of the same aggression," he said, CNBC reported. "The future of the continent depends on us, on our resistance."
For almost over 12 days, Russia has been intensifying its attack on Ukraine, with soldiers seeking to advance and isolate Kyiv, the country's capital, and other important cities while encountering stiff Ukrainian opposition.
Meanwhile, Ukraine's president has repeatedly asked for a "no-fly zone" to be imposed over his nation in the video address.
