Russia fires missiles near Lviv; Biden to talk with Xi

• At least three blasts were heard near Lviv’s airport on Friday morning

• Biden is expected to put pressure on China to isolate Moscow

Russia on Friday fired missiles at an airport on the outskirts of Lviv, a city in Western Ukraine, where many refugees have taken shelter escaping from battlefields.

Missiles have struck an aircraft maintenance facility near the city but no casualties have been reported, said Lviv's mayor, Andriy Sadovy.

Reuters reported that at least three blasts were heard near Lviv’s airport on Friday morning, with videos showing large explosions.

Lviv, a city near Polish border, has been occupied by hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees forced to flee the country.

As more than 3 million refugees flee Ukraine, Russian forces continue to widen their attacks.

Biden meeting with Xi

U.S. President Joe Biden is set to talk with Chinese President Xi Jinping later on Friday about China’s role in the war.

Biden is expected to put pressure on China to isolate Moscow by not providing aid at financial and military front.

Around three weeks before Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Putin and Xi signed a "no limits" friendship pact.

Until now, China has refrained from criticizing Russia’s attack and abstained in votes over U.N. resolutions condemning Russia.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken told reporters that Biden will warn Xi that China "will bear responsibility for any actions it takes to support Russia's aggression."
