“President Biden will be greeted by Polish President Duda in Rzeszow, about 80 kilometers (50 miles) from the Ukrainian border,” the White House said in a statement.

Members of the US 82nd Airborne Division, which is deployed on NATO's eastern border, will also meet with the US president.

As announced at the NATO emergency meeting held earlier this week, troops will be deployed in Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Bulgaria. Ukraine's chemical and nuclear defenses will also be strengthened.

According to the White House, the visit to Poland is meant to draw attention to the tremendous refugee problem that has erupted since Russia's war in Ukraine began a month ago.

Around 100,000 civilians are still reported to be stuck in the southern part country, which is running out of food and water.
