Swift will address the graduating class of 2022
Singer-songwriter Taylor Swift will receive an honorary doctoral degree in fine arts from the New York University (NYU), on May 18, this year.
“Ms. Swift is one of the most prolific and celebrated artists of her generation,” NYU said in a statement.
This is Swift’s first-ever honorary degree. She will address the graduating class of 2022.
NYU recently started a two-month elective where students study Swift's career, songwriting style, and her impact on the music industry. The last class was held last week.
Swift has a huge fanbase and is considered one of the most prolific musicians currently. She has won 11 Grammys and has shaken up the music industry, paving the way for a new order.
Her last re-recorded album, Red (Taylor’s Version) sold over 500,000 album-equivalent units, including 325,000 album sales, within the first five days of its release last December. That week was the largest sales week for 2021 for any album.
