• Zelenskyy has tried various diplomatic endeavors to pressure Russia into retreating
As Russia continues its assault on Ukraine and its civilians, the Ukrainian President has actively tried garnering support for his people through diplomatic efforts.
In his update about the war on April 6, Zelenskyy listed out the various diplomatic endeavors he had undergone to pressure Russia into ending its attack on Ukraine.
Zelenskyy briefed the UN Security Council about the situation in Kyiv and questioned the efficacy of the group in maintaining peace.
He wrote, “The UN Security Council exists, and security in the world doesn’t. For anyone. This means that the United Nations is currently unable to carry out the functions for which it was created. And only one state is to blame for this - Russia, which discredits the UN and all other international institutions where it still participates.”
Zelenskyy addressed the Parliament and the people of Spain. He also spoke with President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron “about the humanitarian situation in the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.”
Macron agreed that France would provide the necessary technical and expert support in the investigation of the crimes of the Russian occupiers in Bucha and other cities of our country.
The Ukrainian President elucidated the extent of atrocities committed by the Russian military on Ukrainian soil.
“The Russian military searched for and purposefully killed anyone who served our country. They shot and killed women outside their houses when they just tried to call someone who is alive. They killed entire families, adults, and children, and they tried to burn the bodies,” he said. They used tanks to crush civilians “just for their pleasure,” he said.
Zelenskyy has been interacting with leaders and people of the world in a bit to put pressure on Russia to vacate Ukrainian soil from its military.
