President Zelenskyy accused Russia of employing phosphorus bombs in Ukraine during a virtual address to the Estonian parliament.
The Ukrainian President accused Moscow of using "terrorist tactics" against people in a public address. He didn't provide details about his allegations concerning the use of phosphorus weapons.
Ukrainian has accused Russia of deploying such weapons on many occasions, an accusation Moscow rejects.
Such weapons are prohibited by international law in locations where civilians are harmed.
Earlier, the British defense ministry said in a report that the use of phosphorous bombs by Russian forces in the Donetsk Oblast enhances the possibility of their eventual use in Mariupol as the battle for the city escalates.
According to Human Rights Watch, phosphorus bombs act similarly to incendiary weapons and can cause severe injuries.
White phosphorus burns human flesh because it ignites when it comes into contact with oxygen and is highly soluble in fat.
