Biden authorizes additional $800 million package for Ukraine
The US has provided $3.2 billion to Ukraine since the start of Biden’s presidency
President Joe Biden authorized additional assistance of $800 million in military assistance on Wednesday after a phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
“These new capabilities include artillery systems, artillery rounds, and armored personnel carriers. I have also approved the transfer of additional helicopters. In addition, we continue to facilitate the transfer of significant capabilities from our allies and partners around the world,” Biden wrote in a statement announcing the additional arms package.
With the latest package, the total military aid provided by the US to Ukraine, since Russian forces invaded in February, comes down to more than $2.5 billion. The US has provided a total of $3.2 billion to Ukraine since the beginning of Biden’s presidency, according to the White House.
