Russia has no plans to shut European embassies: Foreign Affairs official
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 after several months' military buildup along the border
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko told the news agency Ria Novosti that Russia has no intentions to shut European embassies, despite poor diplomatic relations with its neighbors.
“This is not in our tradition,” Grushko said. “Therefore, we believe that the work of diplomatic missions is important.”
“We did not start a diplomatic war, a campaign of expulsions,” the deputy minister of the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24 after months of building up over 100,000 troops along the common border.
Meanwhile, on Monday, protesters splashed Russia's ambassador in Poland with red paint as he went to lay flowers at the Soviet Military Cemetery in Warsaw to commemorate the 77th anniversary of the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.
