Zelenskyy called joint border customs control a 'revolutionary' action
Ukraine and Poland have agreed to collaborate on unified border controls and a cooperative railway company to ease people mobility and expand Ukraine's export potential, Reuters reported.
Ukraine's Infrastructure Minister Oleksander Kubrakov said the two nations are also cooperating to make it easier to transfer Ukrainian goods to the European Union.
"Transport cooperation with Poland in the conditions of Russia's aggression against Ukraine has become a model of true good neighborliness,” Kubrakov said in a statement. “We are also working on the creation of a joint railway company to increase the export potential of the Ukrainian economy.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Polish President Andrzej Duda commended the two countries' increased cooperation during a meeting in Kyiv on Sunday.
The cooperative border customs control, according to Zelenskyy is a "revolutionary" action.
“This will significantly speed up border procedures,” Ukraine’s President said in a nightly video address. “It will remove most of the corruption risks.”
“But it is also the beginning of our integration into the common customs space of the European Union. That is a truly historical process,” Zelenskyy said.
