Russian troops control one-third of Severodonetsk, says LPR head

Russian soldiers claim to have taken control of one-third of the city of Severodonetsk as the attack in Ukraine's Donbas area intensifies.
“We can state it already that one-third of the city is under our control already,” said Leonid Pasechnik, head of the Russian-backed Luhansk People’s Republic, Russian state media agency Tass reported.
Pasechnik said that Russian forces had not been able to move as swiftly as they had intended in the vital eastern city, which is presently engulfed in battle.

The LPR leader told Tass that the liberation of Severodonetsk and Lisichansk is presently the major aim of republican troops.
