Microsoft agrees to allow Activision workers to unionize easily

The tech giant will enable workers to freely and fairly make a choice about union representation

Microsoft Corp (NASDAQ: MSFT) and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) on Monday entered a labor neutrality agreement to allow workers at Activision Blizzard Inc (NASDAQ: ATVI) to unionize easily.

According to the agreement, Microsoft, which is awaiting an approval from regulators for its $75 billion acquisition of Activision, will enable workers to freely and fairly make a choice about union representation.

“This agreement provides a pathway for Activision Blizzard workers to exercise their democratic rights to organize and collectively bargain after the close of the Microsoft acquisition and establishes a high road framework for employers in the games industry,” said CWA President Chris Shelton.

The agreement would apply 60 days after the deal closes.
