Netflix Inc (NASDAQ: NFLX) is in talks with multiple potential partners for entering into advertising business, said co-CEO Ted Sarandos on Thursday.
Speaking at the Cannes Lions conference, where Sarandos was given “The Entertainment Person of the Year” award, he also said that the streaming platform may build its own ad business in the future.
"We're not adding ads to Netflix as you know it today. We're adding an ad tier for folks who say 'hey, I want a lower price and I'll watch ads'," Sarandos said at Cannes Lions.
According to media reports, Netflix is in talks with Alphabet Inc's (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Google and Comcast Corp's (NASDAQ: CMCSA) NBCUniversal for potential tie-ups.
