Airbnb Inc (NASDAQ: ABNB) announced a global ban on parties on its properties on Tuesday.
The company had first put a temporary ban on all parties and events in 2020.
“The temporary ban has proved effective, and today we are officially codifying the ban as our policy,” the company said in a statement.
Airbnb said that it has observed a 44% year-over-year drop in the rate of party reports.
The company said the move comes as it tightened rules around parties during the pandemic as a public health measure.
Over time, the party ban “developed into a bedrock community policy to support our Hosts and their neighbors,” Airbnb said.
