The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said on Friday it will open a special investigation into a Florida crash involving a Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) car that killed two people.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a 2015 Tesla rear-ended a parked tractor-trailer. The two people in the car were pronounced dead at the scene.
NHTSA has opened 36 special crash investigations involving Tesla vehicles since 2016. In these investigations, it is suspected that advanced driver assistance systems like Autopilot were in use.
