Vietnam-based company VinFast plans to hire 8,000 more workers for its electric vehicle plant in Vietnam as it ramps up production to deliver its first battery-powered SUVs to the US by the end of this year, the company told Reuters.
The company currently employs 6000 people. “New hires are for VinFast’s production expansion,” the company said in a Facebook post on its verified account announcing the hiring at its Haiphong, Vietnam plant.
VinFast has announced plans to sell 750,000 electric vehicles per year by 2026, starting with the all-electric VF8 and VF9 SUVs to be produced in Vietnam for sale in North America and Europe.
The company said it has nearly 8,000 reservations in the United States and expects to export and ship VF8 models from the Haiphong plant to US customers before the end of the year.
