news outlet on Wednesday reported that the Glazer family is considering selling a minority stake as pressure mounts on their ownership of the
historic soccer club.
The family are willing to cede some control at the club they have owned outright since 2005.
UK businessman Jim Ratcliffe is another early name on the list of interested buyers, the report said.
Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk on Tuesday jokingly tweeted that he would buy the club.
“Also, I’m buying Manchester United ur welcome,” the billionaire wrote on Twitter.
However,
hours later, Musk tweeted, “No, this is a long-running joke on Twitter.
I’m not buying any sports teams,” responding to a Twitter user asking
if he was serious about buying the club.
