British drugmaker AstraZeneca is looking to acquire small and mid-sized companies specializing in oncology and cardiovascular treatments, Chief Executive Pascal Soriot told Reuters in an interview on Tuesday.

“We always look for external opportunities,” he said.

Soriot has led the London-listed company and quadrupled its share price within a decade.

“I can keep doing this job for many years,” Soriot told Reuters.

The 63-year-old was once considered the successor to outgoing Chairman Leif Johansson.

But in July, Soriot quashed speculation he was planning to retire any time soon, saying he expected to work with AstraZeneca’s newly announced chairman-designate Michel Demare for many years to come.
