Tesla’s aggressive price cuts boost demand but hit revenue

Elon Musk hints at more price offensive as year-over-year profit sags

Maverick businessman Elon Musk’s drive to push up Tesla (TSLA) sales and increase the market share apparently impacted the bottom-line. The Musk empire’s flagship company suffered a startling 4% drop in revenue in the first quarter of the current fiscal year from the last quarter of 2022.

According to a filing of the company with the SEC, its revenue for the first quarter of the current fisc was $23.33 billion when compared to $24.32 billion in the previous quarter.

This happened in spite of delivering to customers a moderately impressive 17,597 more vehicles in the quarter, a 4.34% increase over the previous quarter. The company delivered 422,875 units in the first quarter of 2023 when compared to 405,278 in the last quarter of 2022.
