On a per-share basis, the Omaha, Nebraska-based company said it had net income of $3.47. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $3.61 per share.
The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $3.32 per share.
The infrastructure equipment maker posted revenue of $1.06 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.02 billion.
Valmont expects full-year earnings in the range of $15.45 to $16 per share.
