The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 17 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 99 cents per share.
The largest U.S. solar company posted revenue of $548.3 million in the period, also missing Street forecasts. Seventeen analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $718.7 million.
First Solar expects full-year earnings to be $7 to $8 per share, with revenue in the range of $3.4 billion to $3.6 billion.
