Voting in Indian-controlled Kashmir

Voting was taking place across India controlled Kashmir on Saturday as soldiers guarded polling stations in case of disturbances. Many people queued at polling stations before the start of voting at 7 a.m. to avoid the blazing sun later in the day at the peak of Indian summer.
