This new division is led by Dr. Rob Rhodes, Chief Medical Officer. Prior to joining HabWell in June of 2024, Dr. Rhodes most recently served as CEO for Healthy Blue Nebraska. His additional accomplishments include Founder of Clinic with a Heart, past President and Board Member of the Nebraska Medical Association, and Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. This is in addition to his two decades of experience as a practicing physician.
Given the complex nature of healthcare, patients are often unaware of their best options for local, efficient, and affordable treatment. This disconnect often puts undue strain on patients and payors alike while stemming healthy growth for better-suited providers. A recent study published by UnitedHealth Group found that of the 27 million annual ER visits by patients with private insurance, two-thirds are not an actual emergency and could be treated more effectively and affordably elsewhere. The study goes on to share that “the average cost of such [unnecessary ER] visits… tops $2,000.”
