AMAZON TEAMSTERS IN STATEN ISLAND RALLY TO DEMAND CONTRACT TALKS
Amazon Has Illegally Refused to Bargain Over Low Wages and Dangerous Conditions
On Monday, Oct. 14, at 5 p.m., Amazon Teamsters will gather for a Solidarity Rally and Cookout outside of the e-commerce giant's JFK8 warehouse in Staten Island to demand that Amazon come to the table and begin negotiations for a Teamsters contract.
More than 5,500 workers at JFK8 voted overwhelmingly in June to affiliate with the Teamsters, chartering the new Amazon Labor Union-International Brotherhood of Teamsters (ALU-IBT) Local 1. Despite the will of the workers and their repeatedly successful union organizing efforts, Amazon has so far refused to obey federal government orders to begin contract negotiations with the Teamsters.
