RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 19, 2024--

Red Hat, Inc., the world's leading provider of open source solutions, today announced the availability of Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform (JBoss EAP) 8 on Microsoft Azure. JBoss EAP 8 provides a pathway for Java application modernization, including support for Jakarta EE 10, while helping to address stringent reliability, security and compliance requirements. With availability on Azure, customers gain greater choice in where and how they modernize application development across the hybrid cloud, as well as the opportunity to take advantage of key Azure services, including Azure Red Hat OpenShift, Azure Virtual Machines and Azure App Service.

Red Hat’s State of Application Modernization Report indicates that application modernization remains a crucial part of enterprise IT strategies. 95% of respondents highlight these practices as essential for their organization's success, while respondents also expect to modernize more than half of their custom applications in 2024.

Frequently, these applications are Java-based, meaning that supporting a transition to hybrid cloud platforms is crucial to maintain developer productivity and viability of Java applications. JBoss EAP 8 is Red Hat’s answer to enterprise application modernization needs, providing enhancements beyond Jakarta EE support that emphasize developer-friendliness and productivity.

JBoss EAP 8 and Microsoft Azure: Expanded options for hybrid cloud innovation

Greater flexibility and choice are hallmarks of the hybrid cloud, and JBoss EAP 8 on Microsoft Azure provides a broad set of options for application modernization efforts. Available in the coming months, customers will be able to use existing JBoss EAP subscriptions to deploy applications to Azure App Service, making it far easier to move existing applications to the cloud while retaining support from both Red Hat and Microsoft across the application lifecycle. These applications can then use other Azure services as well, providing more cost-efficiency and longevity from existing applications.

JBoss EAP 8 is also available in a Free Tier on Azure App Service, making it easier for customers to test proof-of-concept projects in a live environment without requiring additional costs. Once testing is complete, users can upgrade to a pain plan for full commercial support from both Red Hat and Microsoft without having to transition to a different platform or service.

Finally, JBoss EAP 8 on Azure App Service is available with reduced pricing, helping to make the offering even more accessible to more organizations and reducing the cost friction in migrating applications to the hybrid cloud.

Availability

JBoss EAP 8 on Azure App Service is generally available today on the new memory-optimized P0v3, P1mv3, P2mv3, P3mv3, P4mv3 and P5mve Service Plans, providing a wide-range of options to meet enterprise-specific use cases.
