U-Haul at I-35 and Airport Blvd. in Austin Closing After 20 Years

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 31, 2025--

U-Haul ® is closing its store at 1032 E. 46th St. at the end of business today.

The retail, moving and storage center has been serving customers since 2005. Once U-Haul closes its doors, the property will go to the Texas Department of Transportation to become part of the Interstate 35 expansion in Austin.

Due to operations ceasing at the U-Haul Moving & Storage at I-35 and Airport Boulevard center, seven Team Members will be let go.

“This was a prime, five-star location for U-Haul,” said Kristina Ramos, U-Haul Company of Austin president. “We’ll miss our great customers that had been storing their belongings here for more than 20 years.”

Customers of U-Haul at I-35 and Airport Boulevard can find solutions to their moving and self-storage needs less than a mile away at U-Haul at University Texas or two miles away at U-Haul at North Lamar.

Local U-Haul Companies are always exploring opportunities for growth as they pursue means to better serve the needs of customers, but sometimes find it necessary to close or relocate stores, shops, offices and services. Reasons for closures can include: long-term strategic plans; safety and security concerns; physical site conditions and limitations; shifts in demographics; availability of local Team Members; trends in migration; expansion of the U-Haul neighborhood dealer network; proximity to other new or existing Company locations; and external factors.
