Donald J. Trump, born on June 14, 1946, in Queens, New York, is an American businessman, television personality, and politician who is the serving 47th President of the United States of America, who also served as the 45th President of the United States from January 2017 to January 2021. Before entering politics, Trump was best known for his real estate ventures and his starring role in the reality TV show, "The Apprentice." His business interests include hotels, casinos, golf courses, and numerous other real estate properties around the world.
Trump attended the New York Military Academy, where he excelled both socially and academically. After graduating in 1964, he began his higher education at Fordham University in New York City. After two years, he transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where he graduated in 1968 with a degree in economics.
Following his graduation, Trump joined his father's company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, which focused on middle-class rental housing in New York City's outer boroughs. Over the years, he expanded the business into Manhattan, transforming it into a conglomerate known as The Trump Organization. Trump's aggressive business style and bold tactics helped him secure numerous high-profile real estate deals. His portfolio grew to include skyscrapers, hotels, casinos, and golf courses.
Early Life
Donald John Trump was born on June 14, 1946, at Jamaica Hospital in the New York City borough of Queens, the fourth child of Fred Trump and Mary Anne MacLeod Trump.[1] He is of German and Scottish descent.[2] He grew up with his older siblings, Maryanne, Fred Jr., and Elizabeth, and his younger brother, Robert, in a mansion in the Jamaica Estates neighborhood of Queens.[3] Fred Trump paid his children each about $20,000 a year, equivalent to $265,000 a year in 2024. Trump was a millionaire at age eight by contemporary standards.[a][4]
Trump attended the private Kew-Forest School through seventh grade. He was a difficult child and showed an early interest in his father's business.

Besides his business and television career, Trump has authored several books. His most famous book, "The Art of the Deal," published in 1987, is part autobiography and part business advice book, and it became a best-seller.
