David Campbell is a President and CEO of Evergy, Inc.(EVRG) in January 2021 as Under Campbell’s leadership, Evergy focuses on providing safe, affordable, and reliable service to its 1.7 million customers in Kansas and Missouri. The company’s corporate initiatives and capital investments target an enhanced customer experience, grid modernization, improved reliability and resiliency, cost competitiveness, and the ongoing transition of the company’s generation fleet. These initiatives enhance economic development and enable the company to provide affordable and regionally competitive rates for customers, while at the same time advancing the sustainability goals of Evergy and its stakeholders. Campbell and his team are dedicated to ensuring that Evergy provides a rewarding and professional work environment for employees and engages as a trusted partner in the communities Evergy serves.

Campbell served as executive vice president and chief financial officer of Vistra Corp. from June 2019 through December 2020, with oversight of finance, accounting, strategy and M&A functions. From 2014 through 2019, he served as chief executive officer of InfraREIT, Inc., expanding his responsibilities in 2016 to become chief executive officer of Sharyland Utilities. During this time, InfraREIT successfully launched its initial public offering and completed the sale of the company to Oncor Electric Delivery and Sempra in 2019.

Previously, Campbell worked at TXU Corp., the largest electric power company in Texas, and its successor, Energy Future Holdings (EFH), in various roles including chief financial officer of TXU and chief executive officer of Luminant, the power generation subsidiary of TXU and EFH. Prior to joining TXU, Campbell was a partner at McKinsey & Company, where he led the corporate finance and strategy practice in Texas.

Active in the community and the power industry, Campbell serves on the boards of the Kansas City Area Development Council, the Electric Power Research Institute, St. Mark’s School, and Nuclear Electric Insurance Limited. Campbell is also a member of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City and the Leadership Council of the Yale School of the Environment.

Campbell is a Graduate of Yale University, Harvard Law School and Oxford University, where he studied as a Rhodes Scholar.
