Overview
Monte N. Redman is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Astoria Financial Corporation, Inc.(AF) and its subsidiary Astoria Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. Redman joined Astoria in 1977. He was appointed Assistant Controller in 1979, Vice President and Investment Officer in 1985, Senior Vice President, Treasurer and Chief Financial Officer in 1989 and Executive Vice
President in 1997. Mr. Redman’s current responsibilities include, among other things, Astoria’s investment securities portfolio, accounting operations, financial, management and tax reporting, financial planning, mergers and acquisitions, and investor relations. Mr. Redman is Chairman of Astoria’s Asset & Liability Management Committee and is a member of the Company’s Executive
Committee, Investment Committee, Asset Classification Committee, and Information Systems Steering Committee.
Mr. Redman is also a member of America’s Community Bankers Accounting Committee, the New York Bankers Association Accounting and Tax Committee and serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the national Tourette Syndrome Association.
Career :
In 1977, Redman graduated magna cum laude from New York Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in accounting and began working for Astoria Bank.
In 1979, he was appointed assistant controller of the bank.
In 1985, he was appointed vice president and investment officer.
In 1989, he was appointed senior vice president, treasurer, and chief financial officer.
In 1997, he was appointed executive vice president.
In 2005, he was elected chairman of the Tourette Association of America.
In May 2011, Redman was honored by the Queens Botanical Garden.
In June 2011, Redman was appointed as a director, president, and chief executive officer of Astoria Financial Corporation, the holding company for Astoria Bank.
Mr. Redman graduated magna cum laude from New York Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Accounting.
