Overview
Wilfred C.W. Chiang has served as Chairman of the Board of Plains GP Holdings (PAGP), a mid-stream petroleum logistics player, since January 2020, and as a director since February 2017.
In addition, Chiang has been Chief Executive Officer since October 2018 and previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Chiang joined Plains in 2015 from Occidental Petroleum Corporation where he served as Executive Vice President, Operations from 2012 until 2015.
From 1996 until 2012, he served in various positions at ConocoPhillips and predecessors, including most recently as Senior Vice President - Refining, Marketing, Transportation, and Commercial. He has served on the boards of DCP Midstream and Chevron Phillips Chemical.
The business model of Plains GP integrates large-scale supply aggregation capabilities with the ownership and operation of critical midstream infrastructure systems that connect major producing regions to key demand centers and export terminals.
As one of the largest midstream service providers in North America, the company owns an extensive network of pipeline transportation, terminalling, storage and gathering assets in key crude oil and NGL producing basins (including the Permian Basin) and transportation corridors and at major market hubs in the United States and Canada. Our assets and the services we provide are primarily focused on crude oil, NGL and natural gas.
Early Life
Chiang holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology and completed the Advanced Management Program at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business.
Other Activites
Chiang currently serves in director roles on the United Way of Greater Houston and Performing Arts Houston. He is also involved in the American Petroleum Institute, American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, National Petroleum Council, the Permian Strategic Partnership and the Energy Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas.
