Overview
Hassane El-Khoury is the CEO of ON Semiconductor.
Hassane El-Khoury is a seasoned professional with over twenty years of experience in the technology sector. His career has fostered a deep understanding of customer and design requirements in the automotive and industrial markets, as well as a systems-level understanding to form integrated customer solutions and business strategies to drive results. He was elected as a director of ON Semiconductor Corporation and appointed as President and Chief Executive Officer of onsemi and Semiconductor Components Industries, LLC in December 2020.
Prior to joining onsemi, El-Khoury served as president, chief executive officer and member of the board of directors at Cypress Semiconductor until its sale to Infineon in April 2020. He held various roles spanning business unit management, product development, applications engineering and business development during his thirteen years at Cypress. El-Khoury was the architect of the acquisition by Infineon Technologies AG in early 2020 for an enterprise value of $10.0 billion.
Under El-Khoury’s leadership, Cypress underwent a significant transformation from a founder-led semiconductor company to a cutting-edge organization that broke down barriers and embraced customer and industry problems instead of running away from them. Cypress 3.0, the foundation of El-Khoury’s strategy, not only redirected the company to target markets growing faster than the semiconductor market but embraced innovation from within while empowering his global team to think beyond current limits and challenge the status quo. Within the first two years of El-Khoury’s tenure, his strategy enabled the company to reach all-time high records for stock price, revenue and cash flow.
Prior to becoming the CEO of Cypress, El-Khoury led the company’s Programmable Systems Division, managing the standard and programmable microcontroller (MCU) portfolio, including its Platform PSoC family of devices, and its automotive business. Hassane began his career at Continental Automotive Systems as a senior design engineer. After immigrating to the United States from Lebanon at the age of 17, El-Khoury obtained a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from Lawrence Technological University and a master’s in engineering management from Oakland University. He was a 2018 recipient of Silicon Valley’s 40 under 40 and is currently the Chairman of the board of directors at Leia, Inc.
