Russia is redeploying hundreds of soldiers from Georgia after massive setbacks in Ukraine, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
“Between 1,200 and 2,000 of these Russian troops are being reorganized into 3x Battalion Tactical Groups,” the MoD said in a Twitter post.
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, it's highly unlikely that Russian President Vladimir Putin's administration intended to generate reinforcements in this manner, and “it is indicative of the unexpected losses it has sustained during the invasion.”
Meanwhile, United Kingdom’s intelligence services believe that Russian President Vladimir Putin might have misjudged the situation in Ukraine, adding that Russian soldiers were losing morale on the battlefield.
The news came after Russian authorities agreed on Tuesday to reduce military activities in and near the Ukrainian towns of Kyiv and Chernihiv. Despite this, Russian soldiers launched an attack on Kyiv's suburbs on Wednesday.
