The US pledged more military help for Ukraine and guaranteed that its ambassadors will return to Kyiv in the coming week.
The news came after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, the highest-ranking American delegation visited Kyiv since Russia's invasion in late February.
"In terms of Russia’s war aims, Russia has already failed and Ukraine has already succeeded," Blinken told a briefing in Poland after the two officials returned from the meeting, Reuters reported.
During meetings, Blinken and Austin assured Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, that the US would offer more than $300 million in military funding and had authorized a $165 million ammunition sale.
According to the official, President Joe Biden will formally designate Bridget Brink, the current US ambassador to Slovakia, for the position of US ambassador to Ukraine, which has been vacant for more than two years.
US diplomats would most likely re-staff the embassy in Lviv, western Ukraine, according to Blinken. For the time being, the US embassy in Kyiv will stay closed.
