• Tariffs on Ukrainian exports such as barley, honey, tinned tomatoes, and poultry will be removed
The United Kingdom announced its decision to get rid of all tariffs and eliminate all quotas on imports from Ukraine. The new measure aims to offer economic assistance to the war-torn country.
The announcement comes in response to President Zelenskyy government's direct appeal to liberalize tariffs and help the Ukrainian economy.
“Removing tariffs on key Ukrainian exports including barley, honey, tinned tomatoes, and poultry will help Ukrainian businesses and producers when they need it most,” the government said in a statement.
Furthermore, the United Kingdom has put an export prohibition on equipment and technology that Russia may use to persecute Ukraine's heroic people. Interception and monitoring devices might be among the products targeted.
“The UK will continue to do everything in its power to support Ukraine’s fight against Putin’s brutal and unprovoked invasion and help ensure the long-term security and prosperity of Ukraine and its people,” said International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan, in a statement.
“We stand unwaveringly with Ukraine in this ongoing fight and will work to ensure Ukraine survives and thrives as a free and sovereign nation,” Trevelyan said.
Last week, the UK announced that it was bolstering its current tariff sanctions against Russia by expanding the list of products subject to import bans and increased tariffs.
