CNBC reported the news on Thursday morning, citing sources.
Twitter’s current CEO Parag Aggarwal had previously took over the reins of the company from Jack Dorsey in November 2021.
Reuters had earlier reported Agrawal telling his employees that the future of Twitter is uncertain under Musk, during a company-wide town hall meeting last month.
“Once the deal closes, we don’t know which direction the platform will go,” Agrawal reportedly said when asked whether the company may allow former U.S. President Donald Trump to return to the platform when Musk takes over. Trump was permanently suspended from Twitter last year.
In the company’s latest earnings report, Twitter hit 229 million monetizable daily active users, a 15.9% increase from the same period last year. Agrawal has said he would focus on growing Twitter’s daily active user base and bringing new products to customers.
