Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA) announced that it would cover travel and lodging costs for employees to receive healthcare services not offered in the states they reside.

The company said in its 2021 “Impact Report” that it expanded its Safety Net program and health insurance offerings last year to include “travel and lodging support for those who may need to seek healthcare services that are unavailable in their home state.”

Relevance in the current situation

The policy was made public in its impact report for last year, released on Friday. This news comes amid a leaked draft of the US Supreme Court that would abolish a nationwide right to abortion. Tesla’s Impact Report does not mention the word “abortion,” but the wording of the policy seems to include such a procedure.
