Twitter CEO says spam accounts are “well under 5%,” Musk responds

Twitter Inc (NASDAQ: TWTR) CEO Parag Agarwal tweeted on Monday that spam accounts on the social media platform for the last four quarters were "well under 5%," after Elon Musk put Twitter deal on hold.
“We suspend over half a million spam accounts every day, usually before any of you even see them on Twitter. We also lock millions of accounts each week that we suspect may be spam – if they can’t pass human verification challenges (captchas, phone verification, etc),” Agarwal tweeted.

Agarwal defends the social media platform after Musk puts the Twitter deal temporarily on hold saying the information on the number of fake accounts on the platform is still pending.
Fundamental financial health
Musk responded to one of Agarwal’s tweets which talked about Twitter’s methodology regarding spam accounts with a poop emoji.
"So how do advertisers know what they're getting for their money? This is fundamental to the financial health of Twitter," Musk wrote.
On Monday, Twitter shares lost all of their gains since last month when Elon Musk disclosed 9% stake in the company.
Musk, who agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion, had even tweeted earlier that he would prioritize removing “spam bots” from the platform.
