The bill will now be passed to the White House for President Joe Biden to turn it into a law, bringing the aid from the US to Ukraine to almost $54 billion.

“The resources that I requested will allow us to send even more weapons and ammunition to Ukraine, replenish our own stockpile, and support U.S. troops stationed on NATO territory,” said Biden applauding Senate’s decision.

The Senate voted 86-11 in favor of the military and economic aid package, with all the Democrats and most of the Republicans agreeing to help Ukraine. The 11 Republicans who voted against the package cited long-term investment in a foreign war.

"This is a large package, and it will meet the large needs of the Ukrainian people as they fight for their survival," said Democratic Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

In the approved bill, about $6 billion is to train and supply the Ukrainian military, and about $9 billion is for replenishing stocks of US weapons sent to Ukraine.
