Alphabet Inc’s (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Google is in talks with the Indian government to include its shopping services with the country’s e-commerce network, reported Reuters.
Last month, the Indian government had launched its Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) to end the monopoly of giants such as Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN) and Walmart Inc (NYSE: WMT).
Reuters reported that ONDC Chief Executive T. Koshy said Google was one of many companies it was in discussions with to be associated with the project.
According to the Indian government, e-commerce market was worth more than $55 billion in gross merchandise value in 2021 in the country and will grow to $350 billion by the end of this decade.
