- All of the main bridges over the Siverskyy Donets River, which link to Ukrainian-held territory have now highly likely been destroyed
The British defense ministry said in its intelligence report for both sides fighting in contested towns, front-line combat is likely increasingly devolved into small groups of troops typically operating on foot.
“Some of Russia’s strengths, such as its advantage in numbers of tanks, become less relevant in this environment,” the ministry said in a tweet. “This is likely contributing to its continued slow rate of advance.”
Meanwhile, Russia's combat forces in the Donbas are most likely operating in increasingly improvised and severely undermanned formations.
“All of the main bridges over the Siverskyy Donets River, which link the contested town of Severodonetsk and Ukrainian-held territory, have now highly likely been destroyed,” the MoD said in a report.
With the bridges presumably destroyed, Russia will need to either perform a disputed river crossing or move on its currently halted flanks to convert the tactical advantage into operational advantage.
