Zelenskyy says visit of EU leaders to Ukraine was 'historic'
- ‘All four leaders - Draghi, Iohannis, Macron, and Scholz - support Ukraine's candidacy,’ says Ukrainian leader
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called the visit to Kyiv by the leaders of Germany, France, and Italy ‘historic,’ and said "big steps" were taken during their meeting.
“Today is a truly historic day - Ukraine has felt the support of four powerful European states at once. And in particular, support for our movement to the European Union. Italy, Romania, France, and Germany are with us,” Zelenkyy said in a nightly video address.
“All four leaders…. support Ukraine's candidacy. Of course, all relevant procedures must be followed, all EU member states must join. But at our meeting today a big step was made,” Zelenskyy said.
Meanwhile, Gazprom is merely tugging on the gas chain that has been used to bind Europe for a long time. Ukraine’s president said there is another reason why Europe must immediately transition to a life without Russian gas. There should be no such dependence.
