· The company said Unilever decided to sell
business without the approval of its board
Ben & Jerry’s sued parent company Unilever PLC (NYSE:
UL) on Wednesday regarding the sale of its Israeli business.
According to a complaint filed in U.S. District Court in
Manhattan, Ben & Jerry’s said that Unilever decided to sell business in
Israel without the approval of its independent board of directors.
Last year, the ice cream maker Ben & Jerry’s had said it
would no longer sell its products in Jewish settlements in the West
Bank and parts of East Jerusalem.
Unilever, which acquired Ben & Jerry’s in 2000, had
agreed to let the ice cream maker’s independent board make its own decisions.
