A top advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Russian soldiers had taken Ukraine's second largest power facility.
In a YouTube interview, presidential aide Oleksiy Arestovych also said that Moscow will re-deploy a substantial number of soldiers to three southern districts.
The UK Ministry of Defense in its intelligence report said Russian private military company Wagner has likely succeeded in making tactical advances in the Donbas around the Vuhlehirska Power Plant and the nearby village of Novoluhanske.
“Some Ukrainian forces have likely withdrawn from the area,” the ministry said.
Earlier, Ukraine’s nuclear power plant operator Energoatom said in a Telegram post that the “Russian military had brought at least 14 pieces of heavy military equipment with ammunition, weapons, and explosives to the engine room of power unit No. 1 at the Zaporizhia NPP.”
