Ukraine’s aide says all Russian claims are false and blamed Moscow for prison attack
- Russian media said Ukraine attacked a prison in separatist-held territory killing 40 and injuring more than 75 Ukrainian PoW
Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine's Minister of Internal Affairs said Ukraine's attack on a prison in the separatist-held territory with a US-made HIMARS rocket is false and blamed Russia for the attack.
“All Russian media are full of claims that Ukraine made a rocket strike on a prison in Elenovka near Donetsk - where 🇺🇦 POWs were, mostly from Azovstal,” Gerashchenko said in a tweet.
“Obviously, the Ukrainian Army would never shoot any object like that. It is either a fake altogether or another horrible 🇷🇺 crime,” he said.
The Russian news outlets earlier said that Ukraine attacked a prison in separatist-held territory killing 40 Ukrainian prisoners of war and injuring more than 75.
Although, Ukraine's military denied carrying out an attack and instead said “the armed forces of the Russian Federation carried out targeted artillery shelling of a correctional institution in the settlement of Olenivka, Donetsk oblast, where Ukrainian prisoners were also held.”
