UN Human Rights Office recorded 12,584 civilian casualties throughout Ukraine
At least 5,327 civilians died and 7,257 injuries since the start of Russia's invasion of Ukraine while believed that the actual figure is likely to be far higher.
The Office of the U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights said that most of the civilian casualties recorded were “caused by the use of explosive weapons with wide area effects, including shelling from heavy artillery, multiple launch rocket systems, missiles, and air strikes.”
OHCHR recorded 12,584 civilian casualties in Ukraine: 5,327 killed and 7,257 injured.
Moreover, 7,045 people were killed in the Donetsk and Luhansk areas. There were 5,802 casualties on government-controlled territory (2,897 killed and 2,905 injured)
There were 1,243 casualties in the area held by Russian military troops and allied armed groups (251 killed and 992 injured)
Also, other regions of Ukraine under government control recorded 5,539 casualties.
