Amazon, Tripadvisor and other companies team up to battle fake reviews while FTC seeks to ban them

Several travel and online shopping platforms including Amazon (AMZN) and Tripadvisor are coming together to fight the scourge of fake reviews.
These platforms announced Tuesday they are forming the Coalition for Trusted Reviews to counter the surge in fake reviews that are affecting the credibility of e-commerce. They include Amazon, review sites Glassdoor and Trustpilot, and travel and online shopping sites Booking.Com and Tripadvisor.
The coalition will try to protect access to trustworthy consumer reviews, a report of the Associated Press says. The coalition, the report says, will look for best practices for hosting online reviews and share methods for detecting fake ones.
