Russia's Gazprom suspends gas supplies to Bulgaria and Poland

Gazprom, Russia's state-owned energy corporation said it has stopped supplying gas to Bulgargaz in Bulgaria and PGNiG in Poland because both businesses failed to pay for gas in roubles.

“Gazprom Export has notified Bulgargaz and PGNiG of the suspension of gas supplies from April 27 until payment is made under the procedure established by the decree,” Gazprom said in a statement.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has asked that nations who pay for Russian gas imports in Euros or Dollars need to create accounts with Gazprombank and pay in Rubles.
