• The US and its allies offered additional support of ever-heavier weaponry for Ukraine amid Moscow’s nuclear threat
Ukrainian presidential aide Mykhailo Podolyak lauded commitments by the US and its allies to transfer additional heavy equipment to Ukraine on Wednesday.
“One of Russia's odd demands at the start of the war was the "full demilitarization" of Ukraine. After yesterday's epochal meeting of 40 defense ministers, I have bad news for Russia,” Podolyak said in a tweet.
“Capacity, speed, simplified logistics, an expanded range of weapons - Ukraine is strengthening,” Podolyak wrote.
The comments came after a summit on Tuesday at a German airbase when the US and its allies offered additional support of ever-heavier weaponry for Ukraine amid Russia’s nuclear threat.
The US has ruled out deploying its own or NATO soldiers to Ukraine, but it has provided Kyiv with weapons such as howitzer heavy artillery, drones, anti-aircraft Stinger, and anti-tank Javelin missiles.
Furthermore, Germany, which had been under fire for refusing to deliver heavy weaponry to Ukraine, declared that it will now send Gepard light tanks with anti-aircraft guns.
