Russia's operations at Zaporizhzhia power plant likely jeopardize its security and safety: UK
- Russian soldiers are most likely operating in the areas surrounding the power station to strike Ukrainian territory
The UK ministry of defense in its intelligence report said Russia’s intentions regarding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant remain unclear.
“However, the actions they have undertaken at the facility have likely undermined the security and safety of the plant’s normal operations,” the ministry said.
Russian soldiers are most likely operating in the areas surrounding the power station, using artillery batteries positioned there to strike Ukrainian territory on the western side of the Dnipro river.
“Russian forces have probably used the wider facility area, in particular the adjacent city of Enerhodar, to rest their forces, utilizing the protected status of the nuclear power plant to reduce the risk to their equipment and personnel from overnight Ukrainian attacks,” the MoD said in its tweet.
