Russia's major strategic priority remains the Battle of Donbas, to achieve its declared goal of gaining control over the Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, the British defense said in an intelligence report.
In Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts “fighting has been particularly heavy around Lysychansk and Severodonetsk, with an attempted advance south from Izium towards Slovyansk,” MoD said in a tweet.
Russian territory gains have been limited and accomplished at a massive cost to Russian forces due to robust Ukrainian opposition.
Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden committed an additional $800 million to support Ukraine as Moscow continues its attacks in the east of the Donbas area.
